ACTIVEPHASE™ Active Harmonic Filter System
ACTIVEPHASE™ AHF series is an advanced Modular Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) system. Our Active Harmonic Filter is constructed out of one or several filter modules with the system controller.
The Active Harmonic Filter can improve the power quality. Poor Power Quality can be any event described below, which results in equipment breakdowns leading to operational challenges and ultimately resulting in financial losses.
- High frequency of fuse blowing out and breakers tripping
- Overheating and increased losses in the transformer and other distribution equipment
- Malfunction of sensitive electronic equipment
- Multiple instances of harmonic resonance, affecting the stability of the network
- Production loss due to frequent equipment failure
- Frequent failures in Power factor correction equipment like capacitors, reactors, and switching devices
- Poor power factor (lagging or leading) resulting in penalties due to non-compliance and increased unit consumption
- Abnormal electrical noise in the equipment
ACTIVEPHASE™ Modular AHF Unit
NAAC Energy Controls has been at the forefront of developing advanced modular technologies and architecture for the Active Filter solutions. We have vast experience in implementing Active Harmonic Filtration solutions in the form of :
- Pure Active Harmonic filters for Harmonic mitigation, lagging and leading PF Control
- Hybrid Harmonic Filter comprising of passive and active components
Technology and Operating Principle
ACTIVEPHASE™ Active Harmonic Filter is connected in parallel with non-linear loads and uses set of 3 Current Transformers from the Grid or Load side as per the connection architecture.
ACTIVEPHASE™ AHF uses combination of FFT method and instantaneous power theory which provides the best and most efficient harmonic mitigation. This method brings down the THD-I and THD-V of the network. It combines Power Factor Correction function (both inductive and capacitive) and load balancing feature.
- PF (Power Factor) > 0.99 (Corrects both Leading and Lagging PF)
- Neutral Current Attenuation Ratio > 95%
Active Harmonic Filter Architecture
ACTIVEPHASE™ Active Harmonic Filter has a modular architecture. The system design can comprise of single or multiple AHF modules and touch screen HMI for control, programming and displaying parameters. NAAC ACTIVEPHASE™ AHF System has been designed to give the user better adaptability while operating and managing the system.
The advantage of modular configuration is that each module is an independent harmonic filtering system. Fault in one does not affect the functioning of other modules. This architecture provides increased flexibility and improved reliability to the user.
The user can easily change the harmonic filtration system’s rating by just adding or removing the modules. AHF modules and the HMI panels are fitted in our standard modular bolted cabinets with optional breakers, cable terminals/links and cooling system.
Performance
When correctly rated and implemented at the right location with the voltage distortion within the permissible limit, ACTIVEPHASE™ AHF mitigates harmonic currents and suppresses harmonic voltages caused by the harmonic currents. Our Active Harmonic Filters has proven to provide excellent compensation performance at full load condition.
- THD-V (Total Harmonic Distortion of voltage) < 5%
- THD- I (Total Harmonic Distortion of Current ) < 8%
- PF (Power factor) > 0.99 (Correct both leading and lagging PF)
- Neutral Current Attenuation Ratio > 95%
